First Sorrowful Mystery
Let Us Reflect:
About to be betrayed, Our Lord prays in the Garden
of Gethsemane. He sees our sins, which He will die for;
He sees those who will be lost, He sweats blood.
“... He went, according to His custom, to the mount
of Olives... and kneeling down, He prayed... And His
sweat became as drops of blood, trickling down upon
the ground... And he that was called Judas, ... drew
near to Jesus, to kiss Him. And Jesus said to him: Judas,
dost thou betray the Son of man with a kiss?” (Luke
22:39, 41, 44, 47-48)
Let Us Pray:
We offer Thee, O Lord Jesus, this decade in honor of
Thy mortal Agony in the Garden of Olives and we ask of
Thee, through this mystery and through the intercession
of Thy Blessed Mother, the grace of perfect sorrow
for our sins and the virtue of perfect obedience to Thy
Holy Will.
