The Abomination of
Desolation at Fatima

In connection with a so-called inter-religious congress bearing the impudent title "The Present of Man — The Future of God", held at the Fatima Shrine on October 10-12, 2003, the following statement was attributed to the rector of the Fatima Shrine, Msgr. Guerra, in the Portuguese press: "The future of Fatima, or the adoration of God and His Mother at this holy Shrine, must pass through the creation of a shrine where different religions can mingle. The inter-religious dialogue in Portugal, and in the Catholic Church, is still in an embryonic phase, but the Shrine of Fatima is not indifferent to this fact and is already open to being a universalistic place of vocation."

Some Reflections by Father Nicholas Gruner, S.T.L., S.T.D. (Cand.)

       This above statement is attributed to the Shrine’s rector, Msgr. Guerra, and he has yet to respond to requests that he admit or deny that the quoted words are his. In any case, the overall theme of the conference was presented in the October 24 edition of Notícias de Fátima, the local newspaper that has direct access to Shrine officials. The headlines on the conference state: "Sanctuary [of Fatima] Opens Itself to Religious Pluralism" and "Sanctuary of Different Creeds." The same newspaper admits that "for the first time" Anglican Church ministers "were officially invited to come to Fatima," along with "Orthodox, Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims." Msgr. Guerra is directly quoted as saying, with satisfaction, that this motley gathering of different religions is "a first step. We are like the engineers in Portugal who begin by examining the structures of the bridges to see if we can trust them in the future."

       A first step toward what? A bridge to what? Clearly, a first step and a bridge toward an "inter-religious" Fatima Shrine. When faithful Catholics on the scene protested the outrageous theme and apparent tendencies of this congress, Guerra denounced them as "old-fashioned, narrow minded, fanatic extremists and provocateurs."

       I spoke to a priest friend about the abomination apparently being planned for the holy sanctuary at Fatima, and his first reaction in reading the news reports was that it must be a joke, that the news reports must be a parody of how bad things are in the Church today.

       But it is true. It is reported in various secular press articles, and it seems also in the Fatima Shrine’s own official newspaper Voz de Fatima (Voice of Fatima) on November 13, 2003. First of all, Voz de Fatima does not deny attribution to Msgr. Guerra of the quotation with which I began these reflections, even though 13 days had elapsed since the statement was attributed to Guerra, on account of which he received protests from around the world, including the Internet. Voz de Fatima proudly displays the same photograph featured in the October 24 Notícias de Fátima: an Anglican and an Orthodox cleric walking side-by-side as part of a long, formal "inter-religious" procession of "representatives" of different religions. This procession walked from the original Chapel built at the site of the apparitions to the Basilica built in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. This, in fact, was one of the biggest processions this year, occurring during the month of the Holy Rosary and on the anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun.

       The symbolism could not be any clearer: the different religions are welcome and treated as equals in a procession at the very site where Our Lady called for the conversion of Russia and the whole world to the Catholic faith.

       The abomination threatened by this "congress" of religions was also confirmed by eyewitness accounts, such as that of John Vennari, who was present at the congress and heard with his own ears the heresy and apostasy pronounced by Father Dupuis, the applause and other signs of approval given by the rector of the shrine and the other high-ranking clerics in attendance, including the Papal Nuncio, as well as the Vatican head of the Pontifical Commission for the Promotion of Christian Unity, Archbishop Fitzgerald.

       As I have said, Msgr. Guerra has not responded to various requests that he deny the statements attributed to him in the press accounts. The Vatican is trying to distance itself from the event, because of the outrage it caused around the world. After he got back to Rome, Archbishop Fitzgerald claimed that the congress "was merely ‘part of an ongoing reflection’ on the sanctuary’s ‘inter-religious dimension’ in the Church and the modern world," but "there were no practical conclusions."¹ No "practical conclusions" — yet.

       But, at least as of the date these reflections are being written (December 1, 2003), no Church authority has categorically rejected the whole idea of an inter-religious shrine at Fatima as the outrage that it is. No Church authority has publicly claimed that Msgr. Guerra did not say what he is quoted as saying — that the Shrine must become a place where the different religions can mingle. No Vatican authority has repudiated the very idea contained in the statement attributed to Guerra. Not even the Shrine’s own newspaper has issued a denial, more than a month after the "congress", and weeks after the remarks attributed to Guerra were aired in the press and published around the world on the Internet.

       Now, Msgr. Guerra would not make such statements without powerful supporters within the Vatican apparatus. He is not a reckless fool. He knew that his statements would be well received by the Vatican’s representatives present at the "congress", who also applauded the inter-religious heresies of Father Dupuis, delivered in his speech at the same congress.        Perhaps the Vatican apparatus is now trying to deflate the trial balloon Guerra launched. But the trial balloon was launched, clearly to see how Catholics would react. The purveyors of the new religion being foisted upon us in the name of Vatican II — by men who no longer have the Catholic faith of our fathers — know that the reaction of the good Catholics cannot simply be disregarded. These men of the new religion need to send up their trial balloons to see what they can get away with at the present time, and what will have to wait for another day. If it doesn’t work, the trial balloon is pulled back in and they go on pretending to be Catholic. The very fact that they launch these trial balloons of the new religion shows that they no longer have the Faith. We must tell them that we know what they are up to. We must take positive steps to see to it that the threatened abomination never happens at any time.

The Abomination of Desolation

       The prophet Daniel in the Old Testament, and Jesus Himself in the New Testament, predict that at a future time there will be an "Abomination of Desolation" set up in a holy place. As Our Lord warned, this event would signal the near approach of a great chastisement:

"When therefore you shall see the Abomination of Desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place: he that readeth let him understand. Then they that are in Judea, let them flee to the mountains: And he that is on the housetop, let him not come down to take anything out of his house: And he that is in the field, let him not go back to take his coat. And woe to them that are with child, and that give suck in those days. But pray that your flight be not in the winter, or on the sabbath. For there shall be then great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, neither shall be. And unless those days had been shortened, no flesh should be saved: but for the sake of the elect those days shall be shortened." (Matt. 24:15-24)

       It is therefore a matter of divine revelation that in some future time God will allow the devil and his followers to desecrate a holy place dedicated to the One True God, the Most Holy Trinity, the Creator of Heaven and earth.

       God will allow this desecration for a brief period. And it will not be a small desecration, if we can call it that, but a very grave one — the worst possible desecration, the desecration that Our Lord, referring to the prophet Daniel, called the "Abomination of Desolation."

       Now what is planned for Fatima, if it is not the Abomination of Desolation predicted by Our Lord, is at least a forerunner of that ultimate desecration. It would be a most grave abomination being inflicted upon a holy sanctuary — a holy place chosen, consecrated and sanctified by the very physical presence of Our Lady’s glorified body at Fatima.

       Let us first of all point out that Our Lady’s appearance at Fatima in 1917 was not, as the modernists would claim, merely an image in the minds of the three children, Francisco, Jacinta and Lucy. No, it was the visit of Our Lady in Her actual physical body — the glorified body of the Blessed Virgin Mary — the same body that was taken up into Heaven at the Assumption after the end of Her earthly life. It was the glorified body of Immaculate Mary that returned to earth and stood upon the holm oak tree in Fatima.

       And yes, She stood upon that tree. We know this because people in the crowd reported seeing the tree bend as if someone were standing on top of it. That someone was the Blessed Virgin Mary. The miracle was not that the children could see Her, but that the people could not see Her, yet they did see the tree bend. And a number of them saw the sacred vehicle in which She was transported on September 13, 1917.

       We are speaking, then, about the place of Fatima being sanctified by the physical presence of the glorious Mother of God. And Fatima is not the only such place in the world. Another example of a place sanctified by Our Lady’s physical presence is Zaragoza, Spain, where Pope John Paul II has made a pilgrimage. In the 1st Century, when St. James the Greater was preaching the Gospel in Spain, at present-day Zaragoza, he was very discouraged because of the poor results he obtained. The Blessed Virgin Mary, Who was not yet assumed into Heaven but still living in the Holy Land, bilocated to Zaragoza — as saints like Padre Pio have been known to do — and stood on a pillar before St. James to talk with him and encourage him in his moment of sadness. To this day, the pillar She stood on still exists, surrounded by a large basilica. The pillar itself is over a mile tall, buried in the ground except for the last 10 feet of it.

       If God considers the spot on which Our Lady stood at Zaragoza to be a place so holy that He has preserved the pillar on which She stood completely intact and undefiled down to the present time, surely He also intends to preserve intact and undefiled, as holy ground, the place in which She appeared at Fatima.

       Another holy place sanctified by Our Lady’s physical presence is found in Loretto, Italy. In 1294 A.D., angels carried to Loretto from the Holy Land the Holy House where the Archangel Gabriel appeared to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and where She gave Her free consent to be Mother of the Savior. The angels did this to preserve the Holy House from desecration by Muslim invaders. That same Holy House to this day is revered as a sacred place, and it is also surrounded by a most beautiful basilica that is part of the Vatican State, under direct papal control, as is St. Peter’s in Rome.

       Now, to take a place made holy by the physical presence of the Mother of God and defile it by opening it to the worship of false gods, by making it available for the practitioners of all manner of false religions, is definitely an abomination.

       It would be bad enough if this abomination were imposed at the point of a gun by an invading army. But this abomination at Fatima is actually being proposed or condoned by Catholic clerics, including Msgr. Guerra, the rector of the Fatima Shrine who announced his plans for this abomination in the press and in conjunction with his congress on "The Future of God". Vatican representatives and other Church dignitaries know of this outrage, none of whom have raised public objection to this public scandal.

       Up to now this abomination — the defilement of the Fatima Shrine by making it a place for the worship of false gods — has not been fully carried out. However, the ground work is being laid, as we can see from the heretical and apostate teachings presented by Father Dupuis at the "Future of God" conference at Fatima — false teachings that were well received by the various officials mentioned (see J. Vennari’s report, "Fatima to Become Interfaith Shrine? An Account From One Who Was There"). These Church officials, either by their connivance, agreement, silence, or applause, signaled that the heresies preached by Father Dupuis are likely to be reflected in the creation of a "new inter-religious Fatima Shrine", unless it is stopped by the action of the Catholic faithful.

       To commit this abomination in any Catholic holy place, be it your local Catholic parish, basilica, cathedral or place of pilgrimage, would be a grave offense against God. But it is even worse to commit such an abomination in a holy place sanctified by the very presence of His Mother, whom Christ Himself loves and honors in a very special way, reserved to Her and Her alone.

       To take such a sacred place and open it to the worship of false religions is literally to make it a place of worship for the devil himself. For as St. Paul teaches, the gods of the pagan religions are devils. The Hindus, the Buddhists, the Sikhs, the animists — all of them worship devils, even if they are not explicitly aware of it. Clearly, then, what is planned for Fatima is an abomination of desolation, even if it may not be the Abomination of Desolation foretold by Our Lord.

The Great Apostasy

       We did not choose to be born at this time but it appears, from everything we can see, that we are in the time of the Antichrist predicted in Sacred Scripture. As St. Pius X said, only a few years before Our Lady came to Fatima, in his first encyclical E Supremi: "[T]here is good reason to fear lest this great perversity may be, as it were, a foretaste, and perhaps the beginning of those evils which are reserved for the last days; and that there may be already in the world the ‘Son of Perdition’ of whom the Apostle speaks." What would this great sainted Pope say today, when the very rector of the Fatima Shrine proposes to make it a place for the worship of devils?

       The apostasy must first take place before the Antichrist, the Son of Perdition, comes. Here they are preparing to set up the Abomination of Desolation in a holy place, so that the Antichrist can rule the world with a false religion. Unless Catholics in Portugal, joined by Catholics around the world, vigorously oppose and insist upon the rejection of this proposal to set up the Abomination of Desolation at Fatima, they take upon themselves the guilt of their leaders.

       As Sister Lucy said, the devil is in the mood for a final battle, and here he has even chosen the battleground — the very soil of the Cova da Iria. The devil’s objective is to create the new one-world religion, while deceiving us into believing that the new religion is still Catholic. Those who oppose this false religion and the Churchmen who are not deceived by it will, just as in the time of the Arian heresy in the 4th Century, find themselves "excommunicated" and ostracized from the "official" structure of the Church.

Hiding the Third Secret

       This is what we must realize: that we are witnessing the devil’s final battle; that apostasy is all around us, and that it extends even into the halls of the Vatican itself. As Cardinal Ciappi said: "In the Third Secret it is foretold, among other things, that the great apostasy in the Church will begin at the top". How could it be otherwise, since that is where the devil must make inroads if the Scriptural prophecy of a Great Apostasy in the Church is to be fulfilled?

       On June 26, 2000, Cardinal Ratzinger and Msgr. Bertone misled us when they told us that the vision of the "Bishop dressed in White" being killed is "the" Third Secret. No, at most, it is only a part of the Third Secret. Even more important parts of the Secret are being withheld from us.

       The Third Secret is the prediction of apostasy in the Church — starting at the top, in the Vatican. Now we see it quite openly with this trial balloon, launched by Msgr. Guerra, who suggests that Fatima must become a shrine for all religions.

       High-ranking members of the Church have the actual text of the Third Secret in their hands. Even Mother Angelica said she believes that we have not yet received the whole Third Secret, and she stated her suspicion on national television before millions of witnesses.

       Why do certain Vatican officials continue to conceal the remainder of the Third Secret — the text that explains the vision of the "Bishop dressed in White" who is executed by a band of soldiers outside a half-ruined city filled with corpses?

       They know that in this text Our Lady is denouncing, at the core, their actions and their plans, which have led to this devastation. They know by the very words of the Secret that it is useful for them to usurp power and authority that do not belong to them while they still can. They refuse to let the faithful, to whom the Secret was given, know what it contains. They are like the men at the summit of the United States government who had broken the Japanese code and knew the attack on Pearl Harbor was imminent, but hid the information.² Why did they do this? Because they wanted the attack to happen, they wanted a provocation that would justify a war, and therefore they did not want us to raise our defenses in time.

       Likewise, the men who know the contents of the Third Secret know that it predicts an attack upon the Faith — an attack in which they themselves are participating — and they do not wish us to be armed with this information so that we can defend ourselves against them. They wish to pose, like the men in the U.S. government at the time of Pearl Harbor, as defenders of the realm, while they betray their sacred trust. But as God warned the prophet Ezekiel, "I have appointed you as watchman upon the wall of the city, and if you do not cry out when you see the enemy about to attack, I will hold you, Ezekiel, responsible for the death of all your fellow citizens." The very word bishop is derived from the Greek word for watchman. Bishops, like the watchman Ezekiel, will be held accountable to God for not alerting us to the advance of the enemy.

       It is important for us to demand that the Pope, no matter what the consequences in temporal terms, reveals the full contents of the Third Secret. For the Abomination of Desolation heralds the advent of Antichrist, and John Paul II himself has linked the Message of Fatima to the Book of the Apocalypse, warning us to avoid the tail of the dragon, which sweeps one-third of the consecrated souls of the Church from their high stations, into the service of the devil and then down into hell. The Pope knows something about the Message of Fatima not revealed in its published portions. Yet he has been restrained from publishing the hidden text overtly, giving us only hints of its contents.

       Catholics have a right to the actual words of the battle plan the Blessed Virgin intended us faithful Catholics to have. For that is what the Third Secret is: vital intelligence about the devil’s final battle and how it is to be won by the Church.

       Those who are concealing the text of the Secret must publish it to the world, so that we can know exactly what we must do, exactly who the apostates are, exactly how to cope with the current crisis in the Church. All of this explained to us, no doubt, in simple terms that the faithful can understand and meditate upon.

       No one can be bound by any oath to conceal the text of the Secret — not Sister Lucy, not the Pope, not the Cardinals, not anyone who has seen the Third Secret in any capacity. No oath can override what God has consigned to the Church for our benefit. The Secret must be revealed in its totality. The common good demands it. The safety of the Church, the safety of the world, the salvation of souls demands it. In the visional part of the Third Secret, which the Vatican has allowed us to see, a Pope, members of the hierarchy, vast numbers of laity, are seen being killed outside a half-ruined city. The Pope is seen trudging past many bodies on the way to his own death. We are entitled by God Himself to learn why this happens in the future, and what we can do to prevent it or minimize it.

What Should Catholics Do?

       And now, in October and November of 2003, they are trying to bury not only the Third Secret and the Message of Fatima as a whole, but Fatima itself as a Catholic shrine by desecrating it, by driving away the faithful who know what Fatima is, by making it impossible to go there if the place is desecrated.

       And at the same time, they are using this holy place as an instrument to lure the unwary, the unthinking, the overly trusting, into their apostasy which they present as the Catholic Faith. That is the diabolical nature of the thing. They are not only trying to bury the Message of Fatima, they are trying to bury Fatima as a Catholic shrine.

       Catholics should not, must not accept calls for a false obedience in this matter. They must reject any claim that respect for religious leaders — even should the Pope himself approve of this abomination — requires us to observe an obsequious silence in the face of such a grave evil. Catholics must not think that because priests or Archbishops or Cardinals representing the Vatican, applaud or remain silent before this abomination, it is safe to conclude that it must be acceptable to God.

       Catholics must be vigorously moved. Many Catholics have become spiritually lethargic, and their lethargy and weakness of faith have enfeebled them nearly to the point of spiritual death. They must pray for spiritual vigor, spiritual fervor, spiritual vitality, spiritual light, so they will not go down with the rest of their brethren in this time of apostasy. For Scripture warns us that the blind, followers of blind leaders, will fall into the pit of hell.

       They must realize that we are reaching the point foretold in Sacred Scripture — the time when a deceiving influence will be sent out among the members of the Church because they did not love the truth (2 Thess. 2:6-12). We are at the point where even the elect would be deceived (Matt. 24:24), if that were possible, and we must remember Our Lord’s admonition to strive to enter by the narrow gate, because wide is the road that leads to perdition.

       We cannot be in communion with those who would make the Shrine at Fatima into a temple for pagan idolatry. We want no communion with such people. We want communion with the Catholic Church of all times, not with the counterfeit church that the rector of the Fatima Shrine and the others like him are trying to erect in place of the real thing.

       About the rector, Msgr. Guerra, we must not accept anything but his immediate resignation. It does not matter if the Bishop of Fatima supports him. It does not matter if the Patriarch of Lisbon supports him. It does not matter who supports him — even all the bishops in the world. The rector must resign now.

       The Portuguese people and Fatima pilgrims must not give one Euro to any collection for the Sanctuary as long as Msgr. Guerra is there. They must not support or attend any Mass he celebrates or concelebrates. With the money you do not offer the Shrine at Fatima, support true Catholics promoting adoration of the true God and seeking to deliver souls from their bondage to false gods through conversion to the one true religion.

       The rector must no longer be allowed on the holy ground of Fatima. He must go. He must resign his office. He must leave Fatima and end any connection with it whatsoever. For what he has done, he should even be exiled from Portugal and barred from the Vatican.

       Does this seem extreme? No, it is only what is due for this offense. And we have a precedent: When the rector of the sacred shrine of Guadalupe denied on radio in 1995 that Our Lady appeared there, the Mexican people, realizing his unworthiness, insisted upon his resignation and departure from the country. Even though bishops in Mexico and others came to his support, the people would have nothing of it, no matter what was said. They knew he was not worthy of his office and demanded his dismissal forthwith. They would not give donations, and they protested publicly without ceasing until he was finally removed. Even that is too good for the rector of Fatima.

       What would the saints do? St. John Gualberto gave us an example: He told the people of Florence directly that the corrupt Bishop of Florence at that time had paid for his office. St. John proved by a miracle that his testimony against the bishop was true, and the people themselves drove the corrupt bishop from Florence. That is what needs to be done with Msgr. Guerra.

       It is up to the people. As Sister Lucy said, we must not wait for the call for penance to come from the Holy Father. Do not wait for the call for penance to come from the bishops or the religious orders. It is up to each one of us to inform ourselves spiritually and to help those God has placed on our paths.        We are in the time of great chastisement, the worst of all chastisements: that of the clergy in high offices at Fatima and in the Vatican apostatizing and taking countless souls with them. The Pope himself referred to the tail of the dragon dragging down consecrated souls in his sermon at Fatima in May 2000, telling us as much as he thought he could of the Third Secret.

       Have nothing to do with these prelates taken down by the tail of the dragon. We now see their fruits are before our very eyes: They declare they are going to take a Catholic sanctuary, a Catholic holy place, and turn it into a place for the worship of devils. If we are not outraged by this abomination, then there is not only something wrong with those who would perpetrate it, there is something wrong with us.

       This is why we need holy anger. "Be angry and sin not," says Sacred Scripture. We must be angry at this, and we must vigorously oppose it with all the means at our disposal. We cannot lukewarmly accept it, or we will be vomited out of Our Lord’s mouth. We are lukewarm Catholics if we do nothing about this. And as the Holy Bible teaches us, Jesus warned that "because thou art lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will begin to vomit thee out of My mouth." (Apoc. 3:16).

       In the Old Testament, Phinees saw a high ranking member of his own religion honoring a pagan deity by performing acts of idolatry, including even impure acts with a woman in homage to her false god. When Phinees saw this spiritual prostitution, and the effect it was having on his people, he drew his dagger and ran it through them both. And at that moment God lifted the plague afflicting Israel, because the great sacrilege had been ended by the sword. Phinees took direct action by killing the defilers of God’s Holy worship, and God rewarded that defense of the First Commandment by sparing the people of Israel. The name of Phinees is held in reverence down to the present day because of his righteous zeal and anger in defense of the worship of the one true God (see Numbers 25:6-13).

       I do not advocate such violence today, for there are other means of preventing the abomination that is threatened in Fatima. But the Old Testament example teaches us how serious this sort of abomination is in the eyes of God. Let us be then, in spirit, like the Macabees of the Old Testament, who would not countenance the desecration of their shrine, the desecration of their religion that God gave them. They would rather fight with physical arms if that was the only way to stop the desecration. We must emulate the same vigor, the same zeal for the salvation, for the defense of our Catholic sanctuaries and the defense of Fatima, where the world was given the prophetic message for our time.

       By bringing the prostitution of pagan idolatry into the sanctuary, the perpetrators of this abomination do not prostitute their mere physical bodies, but their very souls, which is vastly worse. We do not need to wait for the bishops, the Cardinals, or the Pope to denounce this abomination. It is our obligation to stand up and denounce it now, whether or not the Pope and Cardinals do so. They have their obligations to God and the Church, but so do we: the obligation to rise up and object, in public and private.

       By our sacred confirmation we are confirmed soldiers of Christ. As soldiers of the Church militant, we must defend the Catholic sanctuaries by actions as well as words. We must denounce the criminal activity of these interlopers. Following the example of the Lord Himself, we could even drive them out with whips, if that were necessary. For these thieves are worse than the den of thieves Our Lord expelled from the temple. Here we are dealing with a den of thieves that would steal the temple itself, the very Shrine at Fatima, and give it over to pagan idolatry.

Pray and Make Reparation

       Besides these actions, we should also pray and make reparation. The prayers Our Lady and the Archangel taught the children at Fatima are a good lesson for us now. One of the first prayers She taught them was: "O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee. My God, My God, I love Thee in the Most Blessed Sacrament."

       The first thing She taught them was to adore the Holy Trinity. There is only one God, Who is the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. So all non-Christian religions worship false gods. That means Muslims, Jews, pagans of all kinds worship false gods.

       In the second prayer the Angel taught the children to pray:

       "O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore You profoundly, and I offer up to You the most precious Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for all the blasphemies, outrages and indifferences by which He is offended. And I draw upon the infinite merits of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, that Thou might convert poor sinners."

       The first act of worship to God is to adore the true God, the One God, the only God. We must not have any false gods before us. We must not adore false gods of any kind. Nor can we in any way lend our Catholic places of worship to the adoration of false gods. We cannot allow others to violate the First Commandment in our sanctuaries. If it is in our power to stop them, we must.

       "O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, I adore You profoundly." The Fatima seers prayed this prayer for hours before the Most Blessed Sacrament. And the Most Blessed Sacrament is found only in the Catholic Church. No Protestant religion has the Blessed Sacrament. The Orthodox have the Blessed Sacrament, but not legitimately because they are in schism from the Pope in Rome. Religions that do not adore God in the Most Blessed Sacrament have no place in our sanctuaries.

       "O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore You most profoundly and I offer up to You, the Most Precious Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world." We cannot allow this abomination planned for Fatima to happen there or in any other place where the Most Holy God is present in the Most Blessed Sacrament.

       The words of the rector of Fatima — objectively speaking, I do not judge his heart — are nothing less than schismatic on their face. His declaration that Fatima must be a place of worship for pagan idolaters — which he does not deny as a quotation attributed to him — cuts him off from the Church, from the unity of faith and belief, from the unity of worship.

       We must offer to God acts of reparation. A most powerful act of reparation is to offer up to God the Blessed Sacrament, the Most precious Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for this outrage and all other outrages against Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament.

       The next thing to do is to draw upon the infinite merits of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the merits of the Immaculate Heart of Mary for the conversion of poor sinners. The Angel taught the children to pray for those who do not adore the true God, who do not believe in the true God, who do not hope in the true God and who do not love the true God.

       We must pray for conversions. We must pray, first of all, for the clergy, who by their indifference, their indolence, their lack of vigor, lack of prayer, lack of zeal, and by their false obedience and false humility, have allowed such an outrage even to be advanced as a trial balloon in connection with the congress in Fatima. The very public suggestion of, or "reflection" on — to use Archbishop Fitzgerald’s word — this abomination is a grave sin.

       We must also offer prayers for conversion of the poor sinners who go along with this abomination out of ignorance or human weakness. We might pray also for the conversion of those who have maliciously hardened their hearts while promoting this abomination. Their complete conversion requires a great deal more prayer and sacrifice. But at least we should pray, and make sacrifices that they are prevented from doing any more harm.

       We should also make Holy Hours of Reparation, and get others to make Holy Hours before the Blessed Sacrament.

       As always, and as Our Lady of Fatima requested, we should pray the Rosary. Our Lady of Fatima said to pray the Rosary every day. She urged us to pray and make sacrifices for sinners, warning that many souls go to hell because they have no one to pray and make sacrifices for them. It is not enough to pray for them. We must pray and also make sacrifices for them.

       These are things all of us can do. We do not need permission of the Pope or of any Church authority to do these things. We can do them on our own initiative, and we can do them now. The Angel at Fatima said to the children: Pray with me. He did not say: Pray with me next week. He said to do it now.

Praying the Rosary and Making Sacrifices

       Offer sacrifices now. How can we make sacrifices?

       First, as the Angel at Fatima explained, "let everything you do be a sacrifice." Some people are worried that they have to wear hair shirts or undergo heroic penances, like the children of Fatima. The Fatima seers acted out of the generosity of their hearts, after having seen the vision of hell. But we at least can offer up the sacrifices demanded by our daily duty without complaining, without moaning, without making life miserable for those around us.

       By simply doing our daily duty without complaint — not just because our boss expects us to do it but because God expects us to do it — we are making a sacrifice. Doing our daily duty in a spirit of penance is a sacrifice that God expects all of us to make. We must fulfill our daily duty out of love for God. That is the first sacrifice He is asking of us.

       Second, we must sacrifice by avoiding even the occasions of sin. We must not put ourselves in occasions of sin — e.g. bad movies, bad literature, bad company — unless there is some real necessity, not mere convenience or enjoyment for ourselves but real necessity, such as to save souls.

       Third, we must in a spirit of sacrifice say our daily prayers, no matter how much aversion to prayer we might experience. This includes attending Mass on Sunday devoutly and with attention. This means also spiritual reading, rather than sitting mindlessly in front of the television set, which indoctrinates us with satanic doctrines that come from the world, the flesh and the devil. We must read Catholic books. We should meditate and make retreats rather than imbibing what the world provides through television, movies, books, magazines and other influences of the world. Even gazing at the wonders of nature, to lift our minds to the beauty and goodness of the Creator, is much better than looking at television. God created the trees, God created the sunlight, God created the sunset. God created these things for us to reflect upon His glory.

       We cannot combat the Abomination of Desolation with any effect if we ourselves are blaspheming. Stop blaspheming! Stop using God’s name in vain.

       As Sacred Scripture says (Psalm 44:8): "Because you have loved justice and hated iniquity, God, your God has anointed you above your fellows." If we are Christians, if we are followers of Christ, we must also love good, and hate evil. We must not call evil good and good evil. (Is. 5:20) That is an abomination in the sight of God.

       We must love the good. We must hate what is evil. This does not mean we hate the sinner. Rather, we must love the sinner, as Christ’s law of charity demands. But we must hate the sin.

       We must, therefore, hate idolatry, hate blasphemy. We must hate apostasy. We must hate schism. We must hate the promotion of these evils and oppose them with a righteous hatred. We must denounce and get out of our sanctuaries, the apostates who are claiming the false mantle of the Catholic priesthood, when in fact they are Judases.

       And, at the same time, we must love the truth and promote it everywhere without ceasing — including the true Message of Fatima that the apostates are trying to bury and make the Church forget.

And If We Do Not Act?

       If we let this happen to the Fatima shrine — the place where Our Lady appeared and made the very ground holy by Her physical presence — if not even the holy ground of Fatima is held sacrosanct, then there is no reason why tomorrow they will not take your own local parish and allow pagans to worship their false gods there.

       Our Lord said that if you will not acknowledge Me before men, then I [Jesus] will not acknowledge you before the Father. (See Matt. 10:32-33; Mark 8:38 and Luke 9:26, 12:8.) This is a time when we are called upon to witness to Jesus that we truly believe He is true God and true Man. That witness requires us to stand up to priests, bishops and even Cardinals who would take our sanctuaries and turn them over to Protestants, Orthodox, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, animists and idolaters of all kinds.

       If we do not do this, then on the Last Day Our Lord will not acknowledge us before the Father, but rather will deny us before the Father. We must acknowledge Him in this life, if He is going to acknowledge us in the next.

       It is time for us to choose sides. We cannot be for God and the devil. The time to choose is now. None of us can remain neutral.

       When the Communists wanted to take over Poland, in 1946, there was a coalition government. The Communists asked for only two things: first, control of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of the Army; second, that no one denounce or in any way speak against Communism in the Polish parliament. With silence imposed, and the police and army under their control, the Communists needed only three years to take over Poland.

       Our present situation in the Church parallels the situation in Poland. Just before Vatican II, the Church was subjected to the Vatican-Moscow Agreement, under which the Second Vatican Council was not to denounce or even mention Communism. And over time, we saw the errors of Communism invading not only the West, but the Church Herself, which is being adapted to the world, just as the Russian Orthodox Church was adapted to Soviet Communism. Even the Fatima Message is adapted to the Party Line since Vatican II (see The Devil’s Final Battle, Chap. 8). The Party Line wrongly imposed on the Church from the Vatican is one of "dialogue with the world", "openness" to other religions, and an end to condemnations of heresy. This involves silencing all opposition to what they are doing: Silence Sister Lucy. Silence Father Alonso. Silence Father Gruner. Silence the Fatima Message, in effect bury the Fatima Shrine. Finally, silence the Catholic Faith itself.

       We should have stood up in opposition sooner. If we had, they would not have gotten as far as they have. We cannot wait any longer. Everyone must stand up now, before it is too late for the Catholic Faith of millions.

       We must speak out in any way we can. That includes promoting this apostolate — its magazines, leaflets, booklets, video tapes, audio tapes, television show, radio show, and website — by your almsgiving, and by bringing it to the attention of others.

       It’s time we wake up. If we don’t wake up, stand up, and speak out, we are part of the problem, and if we continue to approve by our silence this Abomination of Desolation, Our Lord will disown us on the Last Day.

Hold Fast to the Faith and to Fatima

       And through it all, we must hold on to what Our Lady of Fatima called "the dogma of the Faith." We must hold fast to our sacred traditions. And we must defend the true prophets of our time — first of all, Our Lady of Fatima Herself, Who came to earth and stood upon the holm oak tree to affirm to the world the traditional Catholic faith of all times. If we hold on to these things and defend them, and if we pray the daily Rosary fervently, we will not be taken in by the lies of people in high places, we will not succumb to the apostasy that is spreading everywhere in the Church, from the top down.
