Father Gruner (back row) with some of the Immaculate Heart orphans, four of whom received First Holy Communion and Confirmation from Archbishop Arulappa that day.

Father officially opens the new orphanage building by breaking the ceremonial coconut, the equivalent to our custom of breaking a champagne bottle when launching a ship. Archbishop Arulappa (right) and Anthony Sebastian (left) look on.

Father with some of the orphans. YOU helped put the happy smiles on those faces.

Father beside the Jeep donated through our Fatima Apostolate. The new building displays a large sign written in English and Telegu, "Home of the Immaculate Heart of Mary."

On January 25, 1999, Feast of St. Paul's Conversion, Archbishop Arulappa (right) blesses the new Immaculate Heart of Mary orphanage building at its official opening in the Archdiocese of Hyderabad, India. Father Gruner cuts the ribbon, fittingly blue in honor of Our Lady, while Anthony Sebastian, manager of the orphanage looks on. Approximately twenty-five priests and a large crowd of local people also came to be present at the opening ceremonies.
