Our Lady’s Apostle

Armand passed away peacefully at 8:35 a.m., Sunday, November 6, 1994 in Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone, N.Y., after nearly two years of handicap with a bad heart.

He was the one whose crucial vote brought The Fatima Crusader work to his house (and farm) twelve years ago. Father Gruner had asked the Servants of Jesus and Mary to set up an office to handle U.S. mail for the Pilgrim Virgin of Canada Apostolate. The Servants, a group of lay people had banded together to promote deeper spiritual life, and it was Armand who argued that we should never turn down an opportunity to work for Our Lady.

It was his daughter, Cathy Sene, who became the first manager and set up official headquarters in her house. It was his wife, Pearl, who became Father Gruner’s workhorse secretary answering thousands of letters and phone calls in her motherly style. Almost every member of Armand’s family have worked for The Fatima Crusader.

Armand continued doing what he could, even driving our trucks and vans for delivery and pickup right to the end in spite of his handicap. We shall all miss his cheerful and fatherly way. We shall not forget him.

May he rest in peace.

In Loving Memory

of

Armand Garneau

July 8, 1929 -

November 6, 1994

Your gentle face and patient smile
With sadness we recall.

You had a kindly word for each
And died beloved by all.

The voice is mute and stilled the heart
That loved us well and true.

Ah, bitter was the trial to part
From one so good as you.

You are not forgotten, loved one,
Nor will you ever be

As long as life and memory last
We will remember thee.

We miss you now, our hearts are sore.
As time goes by we miss you more,

Your loving smile, your gentle face
no one can fill your vacant place.

“I call for the prayers of all those
who have known me,
of all those who
have loved me."

... Saint Ephrem
