America Disarms
While Russia Still Prepares For War

       On September 27, 1991, citing our move toward "a New World" and "a New Age" of peace and cooperation between the superpowers, George Bush announced the most sweeping US unilateral disarmament in American history, described by The New York Times as "the most one-sided cut in nuclear armaments ever announced by a great power." Aspects of the Bush disarmament include:

1) Elimination of the Strategic Air Command.

2) Grounding and shutting down of America’s airborne command and control aircraft and early warning system.

3) All strategic bombers (i.e., 280) have been grounded and pulled off of around-the-clock alert status and their bombs placed in storage. These nuclear armed bombers have flown 24 hours a day for 34 years. It will take 24 hours to rearm them and put them back in the air. A Soviet first strike against America will take less than 30 minutes.

4) 450 Minuteman II ICBMs were pulled off of alert status and will be scrapped.

[ED. NOTE: The grounding of the B-1Bs and B-52s and non-alert status of our missiles was put into effect just hours after Bush’s speech. What is the big rush?]

5) Two rail mobile missile basing programs for the MX and Midgetman were canceled.

6) All sea launched nuclear cruise missiles (including 800 that would have been permitted under START) and all tactical nuclear weapons will be removed from all US submarines and warships, including all aircraft carriers, and from all land-based naval aircraft. [Ed. Note: Intelligence sources tell this writer that all nuclear weapons will be withdrawn from all US warships in the near future.]

7) All ground based US tactical nuclear weapons will be removed from Western Europe and Asia including South Korea, and destroyed. NATO is now talking about removing all nuclear weapons from Western Europe.

8) All short-range missile warheads will be removed from US bases all over the world and, along with all nuclear artillery shells, will be destroyed.

9) A quarter of the US Air Force personnel will be cut; tactical Air Force Wings will be cut by almost a third from 36 to 26; the number of Air Force Commands will be cut from 13 to 10; and up to a third of the Air Force’s 45 bases will be closed.

10) The US Army will be cut by 500,000 troops and the US Marines will be cut by 50% to just over 50,000 troops. The Pentagon says the US active duty forces (even before Bush’s new cuts) are at their lowest level in over 40 years (since before the Korean War) and are about to drop to their lowest level since 1937 (pre-World War II).

11) US ground-based ballistic missiles with multiple warheads will be dramatically reduced and eventually totally eliminated. Bush has offered to open discussions with the Soviets on same immediately.

12) US forces in Europe will be cut from 260,000 to 150,000 and probably be eliminated within 5 years. 79 US bases in Europe will be reduced in size or closed and some 500 US military installations worldwide will either be reduced or closed. [Ed. Note: The New York Times (9/29/91) said that "in a single speech, President Bush had transformed the security apparatus that has shielded Americans for 40 years and has granted much of the disarmament of the US the Soviet Union has long sought, including elimination of all tactical nuclear weapons abroad and on Navy ships at sea." If the Soviets had placed one of their own agents in the White House, he could not be doing more to set up America for nuclear attack, blackmail, or surrender than George Bush is presently doing.

       This writer is beginning to believe that Americans who understand what is really happening with the Soviet’s present strategic deception campaign, the Soviet’s arms buildup, and the Bush unilateral disarmament of America should do what the Swiss and Russians have done — that is, build a bomb shelter. All Swiss citizens and most Soviet citizens are protected from nuclear attack. Why shouldn’t Americans be so protected as well? As we approach the 50th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, we should remember that nations and their leaders can talk peace and be preparing for war. As the Prophet Jeremiah said: Beware when men cry peace, peace, and there is no peace."

Our Lady of Fatima has the only answer for real world peace, security and true freedom. The priests at St. Mary's Basilica in Banglore realize this. Michaelappa traveled 3 hours by car to be able to celebrate Mass in honor of Our Lady, at this famous basilica for the many thousands of faithful present. The parish priest, Father Abraham, estimates that several hundreds of thousands were touched by Our Lady's brief visit to the basilica.

The Urgency Is Now!

       There is a growing sense of urgency that a whole series of crises are about to manifest themselves in America: financial, social, A.I.D.S., political, etc. The apathy and complacency which has characterized the now American collective psyche over the past few years seems to be breaking up. There seems to be a growing awareness across the land that we have problems — big problems — and they are not out on the horizon, in the distant future. They are here and now!

       Patrick Henry once said: "For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth, to know the worst, and to prepare for it." That is what this (and other issues) of MIA are all about, facing the truth squarely (however unpleasant) and preparing for the future.

       The Bible says: "Know the truth and the truth will set you free".

       The real answers to peace, overcoming fear and apprehension of the future, and what to do and how to live in difficult times are found in the Bible. No matter what happens in America over the next few years, God still has an individual plan for each of our lives and will help guide us through the crises.

       As Phil. 4:6,7 says: "Be nothing solicitous; but in every thing, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God.

       And the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." And Phil. 4:19 says: "And may my God supply all your want, according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus." And that is the bottom line!

       [ED. NOTE: God’s final plan for peace was given to us through Our Lady at Fatima. Her Message to us is so simple, yet so totally ignored, the solemn, public Consecration of Russia by the Pope in union with all the Catholic Bishops of the world at the same time.

       Our time of Mercy shall soon run out. Our Lady grows weary holding back the chastising arm of Our Lord.

       We must pray, sacrifice, appeal to the Holy Father.

       We must do everything we can to bring about this saving consecration before it is too late.]

Recent News Items Demonstrating
the Military Intent of Russia

• Intelligence Digest said in September: "Mikhail Gorbachev and Boris Yeltsin are quietly putting together structures to reunite the Soviet Union, and to make it stronger and ultimately more dangerous."
  
  
• The Bush Administration has explained that the Soviets are continuing to build their nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers and to run their 600 weapons factories, "only because of their serious unemployment problem." Really??
  
  
• Gorbachev promised in early October to match Bush’s sweeping arms cuts, to reduce the Soviet army by 720,000 troops, to take Soviet strategic bombers off of alert, and to cut battlefield (tactical) nuclear arms. A few days later he said these cuts would be much smaller than announced. [Ed. Note: The only problem with all such promises is that the Soviets have lied 100% of the time about such cuts over the past 2-3 decades and have instead increased their armed strength (quintupling it over the past 25 years since the US/USSR arms control process began). But Bush believes Gorby and will make even more US arms cuts based on Soviet promises.]
  
  
• The September/October issue of MIA pointed out that communist leaders still run most of the "independent/sovereign" Soviet republics. Insight Magazine (9/23/91), said: "In most of the republics, the same leaders who have long presided over communist bureaucracies are still in charge, retooling their images to fit the times."
  
  
• General George Keegan, former head of the US Air Force Intelligence, says: "The Soviets are currently implementing the most aggressive and expensive peace time civil defense program in history. … Every major Soviet factory is equipped with a giant underground shelter hardened to 145 pounds per square inch — the entire Soviet worker population is protected from all but a direct nuclear hit. Every worker’s apartment house built since 1980 is equipped with a similar basement shelter — so it is no longer necessary to evacuate cities." [Ed. Note: Since the Soviets know that America will never launch a first strike, what are they preparing for? Answer: Our retaliation after their first strike.]
  
  
• The bottom line of the Soviets is that they continue to talk peace, friendship, and partnership with the U.S. and the West while preparing for war, just as Hitler and the Nazis did in the late 1930s.
