In this brilliant piece of "literary polyphony', Father Paul Leonard thrusts you on the top of the stage to "reality ". "The only thing true about Perestroika is that it is a lie ". The Christian is now confronted with the either total dedication to promoting Our Lady's Full Fatima Message or of the wholesale rejection of Jesus Christ by millions of souls because of "sloppy indifference". If after reading this article you are moved to do nothing then already you are victim to what Father Paul Leonard warns you against!

       "For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be pestilences, and famines, and earthquakes in places: now all these are the beginnings of sorrows."¹

       Our Blessed Lord spoke these words when His disciples asked Him, "Tell us when shall these things be?"² His disciples were inquiring of Him about the time when the destruction of Jerusalem would take place. Jesus answered them saying: "Take heed that no man seduce you, for many will come in My name saying, I am Christ: and they will seduce many." We can already safely comment on these words by saying that they have already been fulfilled. There is no shortage of would-be christs walking the earth today: Mr. Moon, Brother Julius, Maitreya ... their name is legion.

       Our Lord then revealed another sign of the impending destruction of Jerusalem³: "... you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that ye be not troubled. For these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet." We have experienced two world wars and an incessant succession of lesser wars and conflicts during this century. The Lord counsels us, "see that ye be not troubled, for these things must come to pass."

       After the upheavals and unrest in eastern Europe during the spring of '89 led to the political changes later in the year, the liberals declared that "peace had broken out". In the Church, false hopes and wishful thinking have led many to believe that the "period of peace" promised by Our Lady of Fatima was at hand. The promoters of Ostpolitik and the Vatican-Moscow Agreement have striven mightily to foist such a conviction on the faithful. They have not understood: "none of the wicked shall understand, but the learned shall understand."⁴

       The fulfillment of the eschatological prophecies of scripture is a very clear indication that we are entering that period of history that sacred scripture calls "the great tribulation." War, famine, pestilence, earthquakes and persecution of the Church, false christs and the apostasy of many are the indicators that Jesus provides for us in the Gospel which presage the impending tribulation.

       They deceive themselves who interpret the signs of the times so as to believe that peace is at hand. Our Lord already interpreted these signs for us when He said: "Now all these things are the beginnings of sorrows."⁵

       Our Lord sent His Mother to Fatima to remind us of these things, and to provide us with the remedies to mitigate and postpone them. Her warning has not been heeded. Her requests have not been fulfilled. A considerable minority of the faithful have done their part to fulfill Our Lady's requests, but organized opposition to Her Message in the ranks of the upper hierarchy have prevented the Pope and the bishops from carrying out the requested consecration of Russia.

       God promised that the conversion of Russia and world peace would be brought about by means of this consecration, but the pastors of the Church have chosen not to heed, and now they must face the consequences for their lack of obedience to God's command. The seer of Fatima, Sister Lucia, warned "Our Lady said that Russia will be the instrument of Chastisement chosen by Heaven to punish the whole world if we do not beforehand obtain the conversion of that poor nation."

       It is the perception of many that Russia has ceased to be a threat to world peace, since the new messiah, Mikhail S. Gorbachev, has preached the good tidings of glasnost and perestroika. Now it is said that we are entering a period of international brotherhood and cooperation, and that the super powers have become "super partners" in an endeavor to bring about a New World Order that will ensure peace, prosperity and brotherhood among nations.

       This Freemasonic utopian dream is an illusion, a Tower of Babel that God will not allow to reach completion. The godless New Order, a One World Government that is to be brought into being through a merger of the United States and the Soviet Union will not become a fully accomplished reality — "Unless the Lord build the house, they labor in vain who build it."⁶

Communist Russia's Master Plan Unveiled

       The Liberal Eastern Establishment and the International Financiers labor to erect the New International Order. The Freemasons have been preparing this New Order for centuries. George Bush has declared that the New World Order is at hand, but there are still plenty of muted but nevertheless clear signals from Russia which indicate that the Bolshevists intend to establish their own brand of World Order according to the doctrines of Marx and Lenin.

       Mikhail S. Gorbachev is entirely committed to this plan. In a public speech on the occasion of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Communist Revolution in Russia on Nov. 7, 1987, Gorby stated: "We are moving toward a new world, the world of Communism. We will never turn off of that road."

       The Communists of Russia have prepared a master plan to bring about the new world of Communism. It is a master plan for world conquest. It is based on Lenin's plan for encirclement. Lenin outlined this plan when he said, "First we will take Eastern Europe, then the masses of Asia. Then we will encircle the United States, which will be the last bastion of Capitalism ..."

       In order to carry out Lenin's plan, the Soviets must first disarm the West. Back in the 1930's, Dimitri Manuilski, of the Lenin School for Political Warfare, explained how this would be accomplished when he wrote: "War to the hilt between Communism and Capitalism is inevitable. Today we are too weak to strike. Our day will come in 30 to 40 years. But first we must lull the capitalist nations to sleep with the greatest overtures of peace and disarmament known throughout history, and then when their guard is dropped, we shall smash them with our clenched fist."

       Brezhnev's policy of detente contributed to the implementation of Lenin's plan. He revealed the real objectives of his policy of detente when he spoke to a group of influential Communist Party leaders in 1973 saying: "Trust us comrades, for by 1985, as a consequence of what we are now achieving with detente, we will have achieved most of our objectives in Western Europe. We will have consolidated our position ... And a decisive shift in the correlation of forces will be such that come 1985, we will be able to exert our will wherever we need to ..."⁷

       In 1973, Brezhnev also set forth the Soviet objectives in the Persian Gulf, when he said, "Our aim is to gain control of the two great treasure houses on which the West depends: The energy treasure house of the Persian Gulf and the mineral treasure house of central and southern Africa."⁸

       Last August 2, 100,000 Iraqi troops invaded and then conquered the tiny sheikdom of Kuwait. "The Soviets", says Donald McAlvany, "appear to be very innocent bystanders in the present crisis, but ... they have been the major pot stirrer in the region for over a decade, and have their own grand design for control of the Persian Gulf oil fields towards the latter part of this decade."⁹

       There has been a massive Soviet arms buildup in the Gulf region. There are "14 Soviet air bases in Libya which house 565 Soviet warplanes — more aircraft than in the air forces of England, West Germany or France. The Soviets have placed 16,000 tanks and armored vehicles in Libya — larger than the armed forces of England, France and West Germany combined ... The Soviets have placed $21 billion in weapons in Syria, over $20 billion in weapons in Iraq, over $20 billion in arms in Afghanistan, and additional billions in Yemen."¹⁰ McAlvany points out that "with Soviet arms come trainers, advisors, the KGB (the Russian Communist Secret Police) and GRU (Red Army's Intelligence Arm), all of whom can be found in varying numbers in each of these Arab states."¹¹

       The Soviets have eight military facilities in Iraq.¹² In 1979, Saddam Hussein and Soviet Defense Minister Ustinov signed an agreement on military cooperation and strategic consultation.¹³ Senator Bill Richardson (R-CA) explained to Donald McAlvany "that there is little doubt that the Soviets were apprised of the invasion before it happened, helped plan it and approved of it. There is no way Communist puppet Saddam Hussein would have given the orders to invade Kuwait if it were not sanctioned by Gorbachev."¹⁴ (See also Editor's Note A.)

       One must bear in mind that the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait was prepared long in advance. According to the U.P.I. report of Sept. 24, 1990, Iraqi forces conducted secret exercises for at least two years before the attack on Kuwait, and Saddam Hussein drew up the plan as early as 1986. The report went on to explain that according to recently gathered intelligence, the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait was "the product of a long-planned operation aimed at winning control of half the world's oil supply." It is certainly no random coincidence that the Iraqi conquest of Kuwait aims to secure precisely the same objective that was set forth by Mr. Brezhnev in 1973. The Iraqi-Soviet treaty for military cooperation and strategic consultation has obviously borne fruit for the Soviets and may soon secure the objective stated by Mr. Brezhnev 17 years ago. Communist Lying Deception Is Demonstrated By Their Actions

       The Soviet "condemnation" of Iraq is nothing but a deceptive ploy whose purpose is to deceive the West and conceal the Soviet objectives that will be achieved by the Iraqi aggression in Kuwait. That the Iraqis are acting as Soviet surrogates in Kuwait is plainly demonstrated by the fact that even today there are still 500 to 1000 Soviet military advisors in Iraq¹⁵, and there are 1200 Iraqi military personnel presently being trained by Soviet specialists in Odessa.¹⁶

       The Soviet-inspired Iraqi aggression in Kuwait and the political violence and terrorism of the KGB-directed African National Congress (ANC)¹⁷ clearly manifest that the Soviet Union has not backed down from its criminal designs to conquer the West and establish a worldwide Soviet Communist dictatorship. Let us not forget that the stated aim of Soviet-inspired aggression by Iraq in Kuwait, and by KGB-led terrorist forces in Southern Africa, is to deprive the West of the treasure houses upon which its military defense depends.

       When Soviet officials told Americans, "We have deprived you of an enemy", they failed to mention that they, our new "partners", still have a massive number of nuclear weapons pointed at us. In the preface of the 111-page annual report, Soviet Military Power, Secretary of Defense, Dick Cheney said: "The military might of the Soviet Union is enormous and remains targeted on the United States and our allies."

       The KGB agent, George Habash, told Ted Koppel on a major USA TV Network on September 26, 1990, that the United States is the occupying enemy and the invader in the Middle East — not Saddam Hussein. Dr. Habash, the leader of the KGB-financed and directed Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine says that Iraq must be defended against the American invaders. This is the real Soviet foreign policy, and not the friendly words of Mr. Shevardnadze and Mr. Gorbachev.

       If the Palestinian and Arab militants unleash a campaign of terror against American and Western targets we will know what sort of a treacherous "partner" the Soviet Union can be, since it has been demonstrated by Clair Sterling in her book, The Terror Network that Palestinian and Arab terrorist organizations are directed and financed by the KGB, and therefore a terror campaign directed against the United States by these groups can only take place at the instigation and directive of Moscow.

Gorbachev Will Soon Take Over All of Europe

       The Soviets built 11 times more ICBM's last year than the U.S. did while they promote "peace" and perestroika. Donald McAlvany reports that "BBC television in London recently carried a documentary contending that the so-called 'popular revolutions' in Czechoslovakia, East Germany and Rumania eight months ago were actually Gorbachev plots (via the KGB and the three countries' intelligence services) to bring down those communist leaders not supporting Gorby's glasnost ...". This information did not surprise me in the least when I first read it, because I already learned from an underground source several months ago that The instigators of the Romanian revolution were in fact Mr. Gorbachev and the KGB.

       The old hardline policies of the Communist Eastern European buffer states were an obstacle for Mr. Gorbachev's more ambitious designs for a Soviet-dominated united Europe. The new democracies of Eastern Europe will crumble in an instant just as soon as the cue is given to the Communists, who still occupy key positions in the army, secret police and the prisons. That is not only true in eastern Europe, but even in some of the western European countries.¹⁸

       It must not be forgotten that the INF Treaty has already sealed the fate of Europe. As a result of that treaty, the Soviets now have a massive superiority over Western Europe. No European missile can reach Russia, but Russia has a multitude of missiles that can reach Europe. The future of Europe is in the hands of Moscow.

       Europe is moving away from the post war balance of power between the NATO-EEC bloc and the Warsaw Pact-Comecon bloc. Gorbachev is promoting the dissolution of the blocs and the re-ordering of Europe into one united unit. A united and neutral Europe will be a conglomeration of small states dominated by the Soviet giant. With its vast resources, population and arms, the Soviet Union will easily be the master of all Europe. It does not surprise me to hear that the new slogan in Russia is "to rule from Siberia to Iberia".19

       ... having gained control of all the social classes, the sects will tend to penetrate with great skill into the heart of families to destroy even the children ... The innocence of childhood will almost disappear. Thus priestly vocations will be lost, it will be a real disaster. Priests will abandon their sacred duties and will depart from the path marked out for them by God. Then the Church will go through a dark night for lack of a Prelate and father to watch over it with love, gentleness, strength and prudence, and numbers of priests will lose the spirit of God, thus placing their souls in great danger.

       ... And to scatter these black clouds blocking the brilliant dawning of the freedom of the Church, there will be a terrible war in which the blood of priests and of religious will flow ... that night will be so horrible that wickedness will seem triumphant. Then will come my time: in astounding fashion I shall destroy satan's pride, casting him beneath my feet, chaining him up in the depths of Hell, leaving Church and country freed at last from his cruel tyranny.

Conclusion

       The signs of the times and the infallible words of Jesus Christ recorded in Sacred Scripture reveal that the present generation is not heading toward a global utopia of world peace and universal prosperity. There will not be the peaceful global village of the One Worlders, and there will not be the Communist workers' paradise where it would be "from each according to his abilities; to each according to his needs."

       What there will be will be the pouring out of the wrath of God upon all the inhabitants of the earth.²² The Gospels and the Epistles of the New Testament, and the Prophets of the Old Testament unanimously point to the period of history that we are now entering — the great tribulation.

       We are now at the "beginnings of sorrows". Only a few months ago there was nothing but enthusiasm and talk on all continents about "a new era of peace." It must not be forgotten that "the day of the Lord shall so come as a thief in the night ...", and "when they shall say peace and security; then shall sudden destruction come upon them ..."²³

       Cardinal Ratzinger, who has read the Third Secret of Fatima, has divulged the fact that the Secret concerns the events of the end times.²⁴ The prophet Daniel forecasts a cataclysmic clashing of arms between the great powers of the East and the West in the end times. While the changes that encouraged peace-loving people throughout the world were taking place in Eastern Europe, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to a privileged soul and said that the world of our present generation has now entered the "countdown to destruction".²⁵

       The armies of the nations are gathering in Saudi Arabia. Even if the impending Middle East conflict does not escalate into a world war, its effect will be a further destabilization of an already fragile balance of power in a very volatile region. Such a situation might easily set the stage for tension and hostilities between the superpowers in the near future. If that happens, and if the Pope and the Bishops do not soon consecrate Russia, then the Middle East might soon be renamed Armageddon.
