Soviet Scud B Missiles located in strategic points throughout Iraq. If the crisis escalates to a shooting war their devastating destruction will mean many 1000's of American house-holds will no longer see the return of husbands, fathers, sons, brothers to their families. |
The Iraqi Conflict
A recently completed Joint Chiefs of Staff targeting review concluded that the most effective way to drive Iraqi troops out of Kuwait, is not with a ground attack, but through the use of massive air strikes to kill Saddam and decimate his war-making capacity by destroying scores of critical military and industrial sites.
The Joint-Chiefs publicly acknowledge that U.S. ground forces in the region are not sufficient to dislodge Iraqi troops now in and near Kuwait.
"Air power is the only answer available to our country in this circumstance", Air Force Chief of Staff Michael J. Dugan said after touring U.S. Air bases on the Arabian peninsula.
"If push came to shove, the cutting edge would be in downtown Baghdad", Dugan said. "Saddam is a one man show in Iraq. If for any reason he went away, his troops would quickly pull out of Kuwait and would be back in Iraq within a very few hours. If and when we choose violence, he ought to be the focus of our efforts".
NOTE: 2 days after this report Air Force General Dugan was retired by the Pentagon.
Big Oil's War
How long can Saddam Hussein stay in power if he is bogged down in Kuwait against the whole world? A lot longer than Air Force General Michael Dugan lasted! Dugan made a mistake, 'He talked sense with reporters!' He said, "We should use the Air Force to kill Hussein, not 150,000 American troops!" In SACKING General Dugan, Bush obviously does not intend to take his advice.
Bush put in U.S. ground troops. How can he gracefully pull them out? Pull them out without a victory, and you inflame the Intifada and all the other jihad-type projects. Pull them out without a victory, and you do the same thing. You can pull out a plane or a ship easily, but what about ground troops? Bush has lit the fuse on the Middle East powder keg. It's only a matter of time.

Moscow May Join In To Support Islamic Fundamentalism:
Should U.S. forces engage the Iraqis, Israel will almost certainly become involved. Hard-liners in the Kremlin could easily use this as an excuse to oust Gorbachev, and support Islam's final assault on the 'nation of Israel'. The real goal of such support would be to secure for Moscow the Middle East oil fields, which are sorely needed for the cash strapped communists if they are to stay in power. Ominously, the Soviets have made no effort to evacuate 7,791 military and civilian personnel they have stationed in Iraq.
Officially the Soviet Union is siding with the West against Iraq, but Gorbachev has been unable or unwilling to break with his ally Saddam Hussein, who has received some of the Kremlin's most sophisticated weaponry in the past year, including 10 SU-24 bombers capable of delivering chemical weapons over a distance of 600 miles. New reports indicate that Soviet technicians are currently helping the Iraqi Air Force jam intelligence and eavesdropping on flights by American aircraft.

Why did the Soviets build 11 times more inter-continental ballistic missiles last year [1989] than we did, when they claim to be turning to peace, freedom and democracy?

It is now official the Contras are finished! A group of a hundred Contra commanders surrendered their arms to the Chammoro Government in June, while the Sandinista Communist Army remains intact fully armed with $6,000,000,000 in Soviet weapons.
Soviets Now Forecast Major Defense Increases
Sorry, glasnost fans, but Soviet military spending is on the rise, a trend which will continue through the turn of the century. Don't expect the information contained in this report to have much of an impact on the left wing members of Congress though. THEY ARE DEAD SET ON DISARMING THE UNITED STATES, no matter what risks they create to our National security.
A recently declassified paper presented at a State Department seminar last month by Dr. ALEXI SEVYAKOV, deputy director of the central institute on economics and mathematics of the USSR Academy of Sciences, details how MIKHAIL GORBACHEV'S latest five-year plan calls for hefty increases in the Soviet war budget. Consider the following:
Officially, the Soviets are admitting that their military budget will increase by 2.7% in 1991, 3.4% in 1992, and a massive 22.3% in 1993. The analysis is based upon figures released by the Soviet central planning agency Gosplan. U.S. defense spending was flat before Gorbachev came to power in 1985. Since then, it has been in a freefall, while the Soviets have increased theirs by 8% each year. The Bush Administration is championing a five-year "peace-dividend" spending plan that will chop a massive 25% out of the defense budget.
