The Pope Moves a Step Closer
March 25, 1984 is Cause
for
Joy and Renewed Effort
by Father Nicholas Gruner,
S.T.L.
The Act of Consecration of the World to the Immaculate Heart of
Mary on March 25, 1984 should be cause of great rejoicing. It is the first time
that any Pope has ever personally asked all the Catholic Bishops around the
world to join him in such an act. It is the third time that Pope John Paul II
has publicly performed this Act of Consecration. And it is the first time the
Pope has been actively joined by so many Catholic Bishops around the world in
such an important Marian prayer.
At Fatima, on May 13, 1982 Pope John Paul Consecrated the World
in the presence of a number of bishops and Cardinals. Again on Oct. 16, 1983 in
the presence of a number of bishops who were attending the 1983 Synod in Rome,
Pope John Paul II in St. Peter's Square consecrated the world to the Immaculate
Heart of Mary. But on both occasions the bishops of the whole world had not
been asked to actively join the Pope. This time they are so asked. The Pope
wrote them on Dec. 8, 1983. See "Letters of the Holy Father to All the Bishops of the Church" in this issue.
While indeed we rejoice because of this great Papal initiative
to bring peace to the world we must be aware that this Act of Consecration of
March 25, 1984 is still not the fulfillment of Our Lady of Fatima's request.
The Pope in his letter to the Bishops states that he is using substantially the
same text of Consecration that he used on May 13, 1982. As Sister Lucy has
clearly said this text is not enough to fulfill Our Lady of Fatima's Command.
Sister Lucy is God's chosen messenger to bring and explain the
message of Our Lady of Fatima to the Pope and to the world. She had on March
19, 1983 officially informed the Pope's personal representative - the Papal
Nuncio to Portugal - that the request given by Our Lady for world peace was not
yet fulfilled by the words of the Act of Consecration of May 13, 1982. Sister
Lucy further explained that this is because Russia did not appear clearly as
the object of this Act of Consecration. (See The Fatima Crusader Issue 13-14,
"Sister Lucy's Recent Authorized Statements"). So the March 25, 1984 Act also does not fulfill Our Lady's requests.
Besides Sister Lucy's invaluable testimony we have also
published in our previous issue Father Joseph de Sainte Marie's theological
proof that the May 13, 1982 Act of Consecration was defective in fulfilling Our
Lady's Command at Fatima. (See "Our Lady of Fatima's Demands Concerning Russia Not Yet Fulfilled" of The Fatima Crusader Issue 13-14). For
a fuller theological analysis of the May 13, 1982 Act of Consecration see
Father Joseph de Ste. Marie's article "Reflections'' published in the
Theological Review MARIANUM published in Rome. (You may obtain this article in
English in a 40-page booklet from The Fatima Crusader).
So while it is indeed a step in the right direction, the Act of
Consecration by the Pope and the Bishops on March 25, 1984 IS DEFINITELY NOT
the fulfillment of the specific request of Our Lady of Fatima given over 50
years ago. Until the Pope and the bishops obey the command that they together
on one specific day consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary we will
not have peace in the world. It is this specific Act that God demands from the
Pope and the bishops as what He will accept as sufficient Reparation for the
terrible sin of Russia which is part of God's creation openly being used to
promote Atheism the world over. (See The Fatima Crusader Issue 11-12 "World
Peace Depends on the Catholic Bishops and You").
If Our Lady of Fatima's specific requests are not heeded soon
then, as a result of mankind's sins and as a punishment for humanity's sins
particularly the sins that cry to heaven for vengeance, especially ABORTIONS,
then mankind will have much to suffer. "Entire Nations will be ANNIHILATED" Our
Lady of Fatima prophesied would be the result of not heeding Her requests.
Sister Lucy, Our Lady of Fatima's messenger, further explained "Every nation
without exception will be scourged and enslaved by Russia." If then the Bishops
do not make this necessary Collegial Act of Consecration of Russia to the
Immaculate Heart in time then these two things will happen. So let us increase
our prayers and sacrifices and redouble our efforts to inform our neighbors
about Fatima and redouble our efforts to petition the Catholic Bishops.
