Regarding the Consecration of Russia

Sister Lucy's Recent Authorized Statements¹

       In order to know what one must think concerning the act of consecration made by Pope John Paul II, at Fatima, May 13, 1982, we are in a position to make known two unpublished news reports.

First News Report

       In March 1982, Pope John Paul II wished to know with precision, that which he must do during his pilgrimage to Fatima.

       We now know that the Papal Nuncio to Portugal went to see Sister Lucy in her Convent of Mount Carmel in Coimbra. This historic interview took place Sunday, March 21, 1982, in the afternoon and it lasted two hours. On one side of the grill was Sister Lucy, and on the other side were the Papal Nuncio to Portugal, the Bishop of Leiria (the diocese where Fatima is) and Dr. Lacerda. Sister Lucy explained that the Pope must choose a date upon which His Holiness commands the Bishops of the entire world to make, each in his own Cathedral and at the same time as the Pope, a solemn and public ceremony of Reparation and Consecration of Russia to the Most Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. We do not know why this program which is so precise was not able to be realized on May 13, 1982. But we do know however, that in the text which had been forwarded to the Holy Father through the diplomatic bag, it was not indicated precisely that each Bishop must make, each in his own cathedral, and on the same day as the Pope, a solemn and public ceremony of Consecration of Russia. It is the Papal Nuncio to Portugal who himself told this to Dr. Lacerda.

Second News Report

       A second historic interview has taken place.

       The Papal Nuncio accompanied by two Portuguese experts did indeed return to see Sister Lucy in her Convent of Mount Carmel at Coimbra. This visit took place quite recently on Saturday, March 19, 1983 in the afternoon. The interview which brought together again Sister Lucy, the Nuncio, Dr. Lacerda and Father Messias, lasted two and one-half hours, from 4 in the afternoon to 6:30 p.m. Sister Lucy had prepared a text which was officially read and on which she commented. The consecration of Russia is not done because Russia did not appear clearly as being the object of the Consecration and because each Bishop has not made in his own cathedral, a public and solemn ceremony of Consecration of Russia.

       The text which Sister Lucy had prepared ends as follows: "The Consecration of Russia has not been done as Our Lady has requested. I was not able to make this statement (before) because I did not have the permission of the Holy See".
